  Child Custody

Child custody refers to the rights and responsibilities a parent carries with respect to a child. In the event of a divorce or separation between two parents, there is often a legal dispute over which of the two individuals receives custody of any children they had together as a couple. Disputes over child custody can also arise with another party, such as the child's grandparents. A number of arrangements exist with regards to child custody, including joint custody, shared custody, and sole custody.
